Greatest Patriots: Unsung Heroes of the Civil War

In this presentation, Dan Pritchett of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute will focus on four remarkable men whose stories have largely been forgotten—or never really told: two white officers, who despite being southerners, stayed loyal to the United States and were instrumental in securing a Union victory; and two African-Americans, whose heroic achievements in fighting for their country and for freedom should have made them household names and legendary American heroes. As we observe the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of American Independence, it is always good to look back in appreciation to those who made this celebration possible.
