In-person

Never done improvisation before? Think again! We improvise every day. But how can you best utilize your skills of observation to contribute to the conversation? Join this improv workshop to learn more from instructor Joan Weber about:
W3 – Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?
TLC – Trust, Listen, Commit

This 2-hour workshop teaches how to employ the improvisational rule of “Yes, And…” into not only the setting of theater, but of life – including the workplace and the home space. Learn the basic skills of improvisation or hone your intermediate skills. The workshop will engage in interactive game playing that reinforces the themes, "Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing? Trust/Listen/Commit" and conclude in a short group "performance" followed by a pizza party!

Joan Weber was Head of Education at the Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, where she also performed in their educational touring program and onstage as Mistress Quickly. She spent more than twenty years in classrooms as a theatre and English teacher and directed after-school programs in Baltimore City Schools. She now runs Nerds Tour, a literary travel company for curious travelers.

The program is open to teenagers and adults.

Each individual attending must register to reserve a seat. Please do not sign up two people on one registration.

This program is brought to you by the library's Spoken Word Society, which celebrates the tradition and artistry of oral storytelling through lectures, performances, discussions, demonstrations, and other publicly-shared experiences. The LSWS is partially funded by the generous support of the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on DelawareScene.com.
