Are Your Post Getting Noticed?

I have spent a lot of time on our group looking into our top posts. I love seeing which posts stand out, and what makes them stand out. Here are a few tips that can help yours standout and some things that I have noticed.

I have included a few images showing just how much exposure a few of our recent top posts have generated. Keep in mind these are people located on Delmarva. And this doesn't even factor in the exposure that they get if we share those posts on our business page or website either. So what makes some post get thousands of views, hundreds of likes and comments?

Sometimes it is obvious it is a feel good story that our community rallies behind. Most of the time it is something that is shared about one of our community heroes. A story about someone being kind, or one of our blogs that features a new place to check out. Sometimes it is just someone asking for a recommendation...these normally get a great deal attention from all of our members. Or maybe it is a post that is introducing a new business or service that is being offered. They always seem to get thousands of views. Another one that hits the top of these charts is a shout-out for great customer service or a great experience. But you know what almost each one of these post have in common?

Photos?

PHOTOS! Having great photos help tell the story and they do something else too...they make your post stand out! Make sure to include photos! This is the single best tip that I could offer. Pictures, pictures, pictures...

Where are they located?

I can not tell you how many times someone has messaged me or left a comment on a group about making sure to mention the location. A number of people want a rule that people need to list the location in their posts. I can't imagine trying to manage that?

But each time I normally explain that all they have to do is click the link and it will tell them exactly where the place is located. But sometimes just saying the name of the city as well can really make it stand out and get more interaction too! I mean I always tag the business when I can and normally will say what city they are in too.

TAG and CHECK IN...

When you are sharing a great experience you have had tag and or check in to the business. This creates a link directly to that businesses Facebook Page. There you can like their page and follow them as well. We also encourage you to share your positive review on their pages!!

Ask a Question...

One of the easiest ways to have our members interact is to ask a question. Again looking and scrolling through thousands and thousands of posts. Ones that jump out are when someone asks a question. Or they ask our members what they want to see.

Be Kind...

Our group is a place to promote our local businesses and community. We are not a traditional review site and do not want to be either. When you ask for a recommendations please keep this in mind. Because inviting someone to give you negative feedback will have your posts removed.

Interact on the GROUP...

If you want people to pay attention to post that you make try interacting with theirs. There are a few businesses in particular that I can tell you share their post to our group all the time. But never and I mean never interact even when they are tagged or someone responds to their posts. I am not saying someone needs to stay by their computer or phone checking in each second but responding when someone ask a question on your post helps. And when you interact with other posts and members on our group you develop a rapport and members will want to interact with you too!

This ever growing list of businesses help us promote  a lot of great things in our community. Many of our blogs which you can find right here are focused on our community and our local businesses.

Many of these businesses are helping us promote other local businesses. Which really is what Delmarva is all about. I am asked quite often how a business can be part of Shop Local Delmarva. If any of our supporters, partners, or sponsors have upcoming events we encourage them to let us know so we can help them promote them as well. Just like the recent launch of Baywater Farms and Williams Market's open house, or Addie's customer appreciation day that we have highlighted in our blogs to name a few. In addition our blogs are also highlighting several important non profits and community events.

The whole idea of Shop Local Delmarva is all about our local community supporting local businesses, and our local businesses supporting our local community. It goes round and round.
