Rust and Honey is the amalgamation of Rusted Mermaid (formerly a store in the adjacent location) and Bathing Bee businesses. It’s what I would describe as a maker’s space combined with a storefront, adorable products, and a little bit of magic. On their website, they self-describe as a paint boutique & DIY boutique.

Owned and operated by locals Christie and Allison, Rust & Honey is a wonderful space that offers a variety of DIY activities such as paint nights, sip & paint, ceramic painting, bath bomb creation and more. The makers’ space and store area is a large area that can comfortably allow for 30-40 painters (slightly less for bath bomb creators due to the chemicals needing a bit more space). They also have a newly added “splatter room” and while I was there, debate was fierce as to just how contained they could keep the splatter from the rest of the store when small children are involved (to that I laugh and say “good luck!” lol!!)

When you walk into Rust & Honey, you immediately notice two things: the generous amount of space and the large assortment of Bathing Bee products. As you wander the space, you then notice the assortment of delightful goods from the owners, as well as other makers. This is a store you want to take your time in so you don’t miss anything, and it’s easy to keep discovering new things to delight in!

One of my favorite things is when local businesses support and feature other local businesses and Rust & Honey absolutely does this. During my visit, I spotted a display of lucite and artisan jewelry made my designer Jill Payne of Vintage Petal. Jill happens to make gorgeous, whimsical and vibrant jewelry that I fell in love with last fall and I was pleased to see her featured in the store. (Random sad story: I bought myself a pair of petal earrings for Christmas last fall and somehow lost them when I was wrapping gifts for my family. I’m still sad about that several months later. How did they just disappear??)

While I was at Rust & Honey, Allison gave me an overview of the Bathing Bee products, as well as sending me home with an assortment of things to try. I also bought several additional products because, well, you can never have too many luxury bath and body items.

So far, I’ve loved everything I tried with the exception of one thing and that one was just a matter of personal taste. But the shower steamers…let me gush for a moment about the excellence of these shower steamers. I’ve used shower steamers from different places and generally they seem to dissolve fairly quickly with not a lot of scent. The shower steamers from Bathing Bee are true solid blocks of scenty goodness. They will absolutely last through an entire shower and fill the shower with steam—I used a peppermint/eucalyptus one a few days after getting my Covid booster and it was the absolutely perfect thing to fill the shower full of scent to help clear the lingering post-booster fog.

I also used a bag of CBD-infused bath salts the same weekend when I was feeling a little achy post-booster and I can tell you that the CBD infusion helped clear up the lingering achiness and made me feel relaxed and wonderful.

I am absolutely going to be purchasing more Bathing Bee products—next up on my list is to try her face serum and after sun spray—and I can recommend anyone who loves bath products and in particular CBD-infused products check them out. They carry a wide range of different bath and body products, both with CBD and without, and I was happy with the quality of all of them. Sometimes CBD bath items can be of questionable effectiveness but I can attest that these are of great quality!

Rust and Honey has an active Facebook page where they do live sales frequently, letting you shop virtually from the comfort of your recliner, selling fun products like gnome garland, ring bath bombs for the kids (they get a fun surprise in the form of a ring after they use the bath bomb!), painted goods and more.

This is absolutely a local location that’s worth stopping in and browsing, and it’s an excellent place to pick up occasion-specific items (Valentine’s Day is coming up and there are heart bath bombs!!) as well as gifts for them and gifts for you 😉

This business is a Shop Local Delmarvalous Delight and I highly recommend it!
