How to Increase Your Vegetable Intake Creatively.

by Baywater Trading Co.

Staying healthy can be hard in a world where fast food is convenient and delicious. Sometimes there isn’t much time in the day or week to meal prep or cook every night. However, even the tiniest changes can put you on the right track to living a healthier lifestyle.

Drinking more water, going to bed at a decent time, and exercising more, can move you in the right direction. Adding more vegetables to your life also fosters a healthy lifestyle.

Crunching on healthy snacks, such as carrots, is effortless. However, some people find vegetables boring and prefer not to eat salads daily. We have fantastic news for you if you’re one of these people!

You can cook veggies in so many creative ways. We could write a book on this subject, but we’ll save you some time. Here are a few ways you can creatively increase your vegetable intake.

Make Soup

Soup is an effective way to consume many servings of vegetables simultaneously. You can puree veggies and make them the base and then add spices.

Do you want to do something different rather than broccoli and cheddar soup? We challenge you to try broccoli spinach quinoa soup. Soups cooked with butternut squash are also delicious. Kale soups are also very popular. The only limitation is your imagination.

Try a Veggie-Based Lasgana

Eggplant parmesan or lasagna has been popular for a long time. However, eggplant isn’t the only vegetable that works well with cooking pasta alternatives. Zucchini lasagna provides an excellent source of vitamins B and C and adds fiber to your diet minus the extra carbs of traditional lasagnas.

Additions to zucchini pasta could be onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms for ultimate vegetable lasagna. Another idea is creating vegetable lasagna with spinach, broccoli, and shoestring carrots.

Create Veggie Noodles

Veggie noodles don’t require much effort because you can insert them into a spiralizer, creating noodle-like shapes. Other options include shredding them, slicing them with a mandoline, or cutting them up however you like.

You can create veggie noodles out of almost any vegetable. However, people commonly make veggie noodles out of zucchini, sweet potatoes, squash, and carrots. Once you make the noodles, you can consume them like pasta, add sauce, and eat them in combination with other vegetables.

Blend Vegetables Into Your Smoothies

Who doesn’t love a delicious smoothie? There are endless ways to make smoothies delicious AND healthy. Fortunately, you can add vegetables to smoothies without compromising their taste, mainly if you combine them with fruit, ice, and milk.

Try fresh, leafy greens with blueberries, bananas, and cucumbers. Kale and spinach are also excellent additions. Frozen zucchini, pumpkin, beets, and avocados also work for a unique smoothie.

Infuse Vegetables Into Your Sauces

Most children have that one vegetable (or many) that they dislike. Infusing vegetables into your sauces is a sneaky way for your children to eat them without them knowing. It’s also a way for you to increase your vegetable intake.

You can puree root vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, turnips, purple yam, and beets to create rich, Alfredo-like sauces. You can also add different vegetables to your marinara sauce.

We offer eggplants, peppers, carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes to help your restaurant or customers create unique recipes that promote health and wellness. It’s no secret that eating more vegetables helps with weight management and leads to a healthy lifestyle. Contact us today to learn more.
