Interesting Observation

I started this group going on 3 years ago now. It was started in a time of a lot of uncertainty. I sure have had a lot of people tell me how great it is and how many places they have found that they didn't even know about. Every time I hear that it sure makes me feel good and at the same time sort of undeserving for that recognition. I have said from the beginning all I did was give Delmarva a place to share so many of the positive things that are here without the negativity. And that has been the constant battle from the start. The negativity. While we do a good job of keeping it off. And I really have changed how I feel about it anymore. I am not sure if it is because I am about numb from it or just because I really don't care anymore?

But do you want to know something interesting? Out of the majority of the comments that are negative or not supportive on our group so many of them come from people who really just are that negative and not supportive! Recently we had someone who made a comment that caught my attention. I addressed it and then I did what I always do. I took a quick look at their contributions to our group. Exactly as I thought. This was the only thing they had ever posted. Not one great review of a business, not one shout out to a local server, not one picture posted of a delicious meal...nope not one. Just a complainer!

It really is much easier to just scroll past a post that you don't like and...

Here is a Secret

 When you comment and make it a discussion that gets more engagement. Then that post is shown to more and more people. A trend we have noticed is so many people make comments on post they do not like which draws attention. That makes them standout and deliver to more people vs. commenting on the ones they do like which would help show them to more people. 

So just a little tip...leave a positive comment on a post from a local business. Tell them how amazing the service is there, or how delicious that meal looks. That will help.

Give it a like, remember you can still share posts that are shared to our group. It is easy just click on the link that takes you to the original post and then you are sharing it from the business itself! Which will help them gain more exposure. This is one of the draw backs of having a private group vs. a public one. However I still feel the tradeoff is worth it after seeing the issues some public groups are facing.
