Junk Mail, It's Not All Junk Mail.

I have been working in one office of mine much more than the other recently and haven't been in the other in a number of days. I really like splitting up my day between the two offices and tell each one they are my favorite! lol I am kidding I couldn't pick favorites. When I came in I had a bunch of things and had to make a couple trip from my truck. I took my laptop out and on my desk were a few pieces of mail. Most of this is junk mail for my official job since this isn't my mailing address for that. And it is also the address I use for Shop Local Delmarva so I get a thing here and there for that.

Junk mail, junk mail, and then a handwritten envelope made out to me David Galeone (The Shop Local Delmarva Guy). It made me laugh. I opened up the envelope and it was a letter from a team mom reaching out for a sponsorship for their baseball team. Recently I just announced in the office I was donated out for a bit. But I saw all of the kids picture on the back of this envelope. I remember playing sports when I was that age and how important it is. I sat the envelope and letter down on my pile of stuff I am thinking about. I had just sent a sponsorship out for the Heacook Fest that is coming up from all of our Shop Local Delmarva business supporters, partners, and sponsors plus I have put out some money to get things moving for our Shop Local Delmarva Barn B Q. And I have done a number of others from my business account so I wasn't sure I had it in the budget right now to do.

I had no more than put the letter on the side of my desk where I will admit it most likely would have gotten lost or forgotten about when one of my coworkers wife walked in with their son. I said hi and asked him if he was getting excited for the Shorebirds? He said yes and let me know that he was heading to go to his first day of T-ball. I guess that was a sign. I got out the checkbook and sent a check out to sponsor the team. I shot the team mom who is active on the group a little message just asking her to please recognize the businesses that are supporters, partners, and sponsors of Shop Local Delmarva as I always do and I got such a nice message back.

"You just made my day!! This is my first time being a team mom and sponsors have been so hard to find! Our banner is bare! I truly appreciate this! I can’t wait to get that shop local Delmarva logo on our banner! And we’ll be sure to tag it and you in our FB posts of all the kiddos!! THANK YOU!"

My children are involved in a lot of sports and activities and it is quite expensive. What helps keep these cost down are the many local businesses who sponsor these teams and facilities. Shop Local Delmarva is a group of many local businesses that have come together to remind everyone to think about buying from your local businesses first. We want to raise awareness for our local businesses and what they do to help our community.

These local businesses are important to our community and they need you just as much as they need us. Don't wait for one to announce they are closing to stop in. :(
