Ignore, Scroll On, Repeat

I have to remind myself quite often that it isn't worth my time trying to explain the way I feel to someone who has an opinion about something that really doesn't matter to me. And several times I might see a post that leaves me wondering how someone can really feel that way. Or maybe a comment that they make on another friends post? If they really feel that way why am I even still friends with them? Some of those people I have removed from my social media life...they really aren't in my real life anyway. And I wouldn't want them in it either.

With that being said I do listen to people and hear them out and try not to surround myself with people who I just agree with. That can be challenging today as it seems everyone is on edge and many people are looking to take something you said out of context in a gotcha moment! I saw several posts from "friends" calling people they disagree with names and inviting arguments on their timelines. So as hard as it is I am not going to engage in those post with someone because that isn't why I want to be on social media. 

Cheerleaders

If you are a cheerleader for people who get a rise out of this stuff you really are part of the problem too. I know I certainly remember who I see blasting every person that disagrees with them. What is more funny when they report a post or a comment on the group because they disagree with something. I am just like WOW. But that is why so many people make these bold, hurtful, and ignorant statements - just to get these back and forth issues started. To get a rise out of you. Again the keyboard warrior. Just like someone edging on a fight. And why do so many of us remain friends, involved or even associate with people that do things like this? You know MJ eating the popcorn. Because we are all waiting for the drama that surrounds it. We are scared we are going to miss something.

Remove Them is Easy

I saw a post last week and I saw a number of friends liked, laughed or had a comment about it. I started to reply on it about how much I disagreed with it but then I thought it isn't even worth it. I just removed myself from that conversation like I never even saw it and actually started to think why am I even friends with this guy anyway. He is a joke. I mean I am not going to go on about all of the negative things that this guy spews out all the time but I have never and would never go out to lunch, drink a beer, or even want to be around this guy. So why was I friends with him. Because he owns a business...and I do as well. Well that is a really dumb reason isn't it? He hasn't supported my business. I know for a fact I don't want to do business with him or his company and I guess at some point I thought he was a connection that I should have because so many other friends were friends with him and it is a small area. But I don't need people like that who try to paint a picture of good for them and than bash others for what they do.
