Last week was a pretty frustrating week. I guess I will sart it off with a letter I got from a particular government agency that has three initials. I seriously have told a few people that I know well about this little situation and they are as dumbfounded as I am over how hard it is to get them to correct their mistake even when they acknowledge it is their mistake. Honestly it has been going on since 2021. But thankfully after about a combined 4 hours on the phone between myself and my super awesome bookkeeper/accounting Lindsay Tyler with Tyler Accounting and Tax Service I think the issue is now resolved and I don't have to send in $263,766.32 to them. I mean that one will make you do a double take!
I mean this was a simple mistake they made while inputting the numbers that had been reported to them. I could go on and on about how frustrating this is and how hard it is to get something that should be so simple to fix. But that isn't what I am going to do. I am going to just talk about the great services that I received from Lindsay and a couple other businesses. I toss out Lindsay's name quite a bit when people ask because she is great. And I know she will take care of them. I am comfortable recommending her because of that.
Now generally I can just take my boat out for a little ride or fish for a bit to clear my head but to add to the frustration my boat has had a little issue that has had it out of service for a bit. Thanks to my buddies over at Alexander's Marine Service I will be back on the water soon. These guys really do make it a priority to get you taken care of. Brian and Rick are just good guys and I am glad I was given their name by another friend. And I have gotten to know Rick a little from our grilling and smoking passion we both share and it is pretty cool. I see what he is smoking and I am like man I am getting hungry!!
That little connection that I made was because of a referral from someone. Someone I trusted, Brian Mildren from DIY Marine and Auto Detailing gave me their name and number and told me to check in about getting my boat serviced with them. I really am glad I did.
I am always asked by people hey who do you know that does this or that. I try to always make sure I am only telling people to use someone that I have used myself or someone I know has used them. Just recently I had someone reach out needing something. When I got the message I knew right off of the top of my head who I would call. I explained that not only have I used this person a number of times myself I have given their name to a number of customers and he always does a great job. I am so confident of how fair and good of a job this guy will do I won't think twice about recommending him. And that means a lot.
I am not going to toss out name just to toss out names. I also take the feedback I get from people really seriously and will make sure to continue to send business to people who treat people right and don't take advantage of people.
And thanks to my buddy Todd Bellamy with FishPit Charters I was able to reel some beauties in! That speckled trout put on a great fight and I was smiling ear to ear. And the whole time I was fishing I didn't think once about any of the other frustrations I had going on.

In addition to helping us put on our Shop Local Delmarva Barn B Q you may notice certain businesses are highlighted and standout not only in the directory but we highlight them on our Facebook Page as well as our group. This ever growing list of businesses help us promote a lot of great things in our community. Many of our blogs which you can find right here are focused on our community and our local businesses. And they are always helping with our community givebacks just like our Shop Local Delmarva Scholarship.
Many of these businesses are helping us promote other local businesses. Which really is what Delmarva is all about. I am asked quite often how a business can be part of Shop Local Delmarva. If you are part of our group you are part of Shop Local Delmarva. If you like the group and like the concept of a digital type of media that we share blogs, videos, highlights and features and want to be part of it we would love to have your support. You can find out more information here. All of our supporters, partners, and sponsors are on the rotating banners on most of our blogs just like this one.
If any of our supporters, partners, or sponsors have upcoming events we encourage them to let us know so we can help them promote them as well.
The whole idea of Shop Local Delmarva is all about our local community supporting local businesses, and our local businesses supporting our local community. It goes round and round.
