I was scrolling through my camera roll trying to decide which business to write about because I’m always taking pictures when I visit businesses. (side note: apparently my camera roll is mostly comprised of pet pictures and local business pictures—which includes a whole lot of food pictures) During my scrolling, I stumbled across my most recent pics of my new hair color and inspiration struck—I definitely don’t talk about Crystal King often enough!

Because Crystal is the stylist to see if you want someone who can get your hair the color you want—whether blond, brunette, blue or neon. And she’ll do it with products that are both effective and gentle on your hair!

If you haven’t seen pictures of my hair, look to the right (on your computer) or down below this post (on your phone) and you’ll see that my hair is bright fantasy colors. Also known as unicorn or mermaid hair, depending on which term you prefer.

Why do I recommend Crystal so enthusiastically?

I’ve been dyeing my hair, or more accurately having Crystal do it, for years. I don’t know the exact number of years but it’s a good handful. And here’s two things that are true about my hair color: I never leave the house without having someone compliment it—I’ve gotten good at enthusiastically saying “thank you” on repeat—even when the color is months old, and my hair, despite the ongoing color is healthy and doesn’t look (or feel) damaged at all.

Anyone who’s ever dyed their hair knows that the risk of damage, which can result in dry, crunchy, frizzy hair at best and hair falling out at worst, is a real concern. And that’s why I love and appreciate Crystal’s attention to the products she uses because worrying about this is, well, something I’ve never had to worry about. Between the quality bleach/lift/lightener and quality dyes, as well as making sure I use good products in my wash routine, my hair always looks terrific and feels healthy.

As far as the color goes, Crystal can both follow inspiration pictures but also suggest color schemes. Or, if you’re not going for fantasy color but a more natural color, she can recommend what will work for and look best on you.

In my case, she also knows there’s a few colors that will always be a no-go: namely yellow and green.

And let’s not forget that the color is not only vibrant and beautiful when I leave the salon, but she also puts thought into how it will look as it fades. And all color does fade, but when done right, the fade can be just as beautiful. Most recently, I had last gotten my color done in October. When I went to get it done at the end of March, I was still getting compliments on the color *every day* right up to the day I got the color redone! That’s how amazing the color fades!

In addition to being a pro with color, Crystal is also a wizard with cut and style, and offers an array of hair services.

Located in Salisbury at Willow and Mane salon (next to Pure Fitness on Glen Avenue), Crystal is the stylist you want if you’re looking for a modern stylist with an eye for color and style.

As an aside: I love that Willow and Mane provides a selection of soda, water, coffee, tea and snacks for clients (this is where my new obsession with Limoncello LaCroix seltzer water was formed).

To see a selection of Crystal’s color/style, aside from my own hair, make sure to visit her Instagram!
