Last fall, I asked for recommendations for a lunch place in OC for my husband and I to have an anniversary lunch, on the water, with delicious food and cocktails. A few people on the Shop Local Delmarva group recommended Coastal Salt and I just have to say...
Holy crap, we had an absolutely OUTSTANDING experience there. (And have continued to love it every time we've visited since)
We ordered four things off the appetizer menu, and they were all incredible, well portioned, and did I say oh-my-god delicious yet? The best lobster mac & cheese I've had anywhere, with very generous portions of lobster. The seafood nachos were insanely good, with mounds of crab meat and large cocktail shrimp. The fried deviled eggs were divine and the Mexican cartel seafood cocktail was spicy, fresh, and I eventually abandoned the chips and just ate it with a spoon (to whom it may concern. I notice this is gone from the menu. Please bring it back. I love it!)
Then there was dessert. The chocolate tidal wave was a dense chocolate cake covered in light chocolate mousse and toffee bits garnished with a chocolate piece, and chocolate and caramel sauce. Uh. If you want a place to go just for dessert, go here. Lick the plate. Thank me later!
We also had crushes, which were nice and boozy! On future visits, we've tried a variety of mixed drinks, wine and beer. The selection is top-notch and there's something for everyone. Including the non-boozy drinkers.
On top of the superb food, the service was quick, friendly and efficient, as it has generally proven to be on subsequent visits.
If I have to say one critical thing about them, it would be that the service can sometimes be inconsistent. Sometimes the service is excellent, on one or two occasions the server was not as attentive and we had to flag them down if we needed something. For me, this criticism is minor and something that doesn’t deter me from visiting or recommending this restaurant at all, and has never left us feeling as if we've had a bad experience, but I note it because this is also the one critical feedback I've gotten from others who've visited.
Since that visit in September, we’ve been back a number of times, including for our annual Christmas Eve Eve dinner out, and every experience has been incredible. We’ve taken our family, we’ve taken our friends, we’ve recommended it to anyone who will listen (including complete strangers), and everyone has had an excellent experience.
The quality of the food and drink is consistently awesome and everything I’ve tried, whether it’s an octopus appetizer, the seafood nachos, or any of the main courses we’ve experienced, has been of the highest quality and bursting with flavor.
I can't recommend Coastal Salt highly enough as a place to get an incredible meal with incredible food. And there's a lovely ocean view! Every time we leave, I honestly can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu, but it's going to be hard not to order the things I already had and fell in love with.
This restaurant is a Shop Local Delmarvalous Delight and I highly recommend it!

I’m Angela James, a resident of Salisbury, Md., and a small business owner. Though my small business as a fiction editor, author career coach and speaker is largely based online, I still depend on word of mouth and customer testimonials to continue to grow my business.
As someone active in the community through volunteer work for organizations such as National Folk Festival, Humane Society of Wicomico, Salisbury Pride Parade, and more, I know the importance of supporting local business and helping our community thrive and grow.
That’s why I’m thrilled to not only help moderate the Shop Local Delmarva Facebook group but now highlight local businesses through this blog.
At least once a week I'll publish a Delmarvalous Delights column featuring a local business to promote and shine attention on. I'll review my experience, offer pictures and sometimes video, and give Delmarva residents a chance to learn more about local businesses so they can Shop Local!
I'm limiting this to businesses I've had personal interaction and experience with but will do my best to feature a wide variety of businesses.
While my mission is to highlight the best of Delmarva, along with hidden gems, in positive ways, I will also include any critical feedback (if I have any). However, reviews will focus on positive, excellent experiences. If I didn’t have a positive, excellent, top-notch experience? Then you won’t see the business featured here! This is how you can be confident I’m only recommending those business that truly are Delmarvalous Delights.
Right now, this is a labor of love to help local businesses not just survive, but grow so if you're a business who'd like to invite me to visit reach out via DM or email me at angie@delmarvalousdelights.com and I will do my best to accommodate you.
And for local business owners who would like to have an ad featured on Delmarvalous Delights, email the Shop Local Delmarva team at info@shoplocaldelmarva.com. We can have a custom banner ad placed for you right here on my blog.
I'm looking to include a wide variety of businesses, not just limited to food & drink, but also including retail stores, service-based businesses, physical fitness activities, non-profits, salons & spas, sole proprietor businesses, home-based small businesses, and more! I want to hear from you if you think you’re the best of the best and can offer me an excellent, standout experience to tell our Shop Local Delmarva visitors about!
Please contact me with suggestions of businesses you'd like to see me highlight, or questions about the column. I want the chance to identify your business as a Delmarvalous Delight in an upcoming column!
