Today's post is a guest post from Dr. Amy Heger. At the end of Dr. Heger's review, I've included comments from several people via the Shop Local Delmarva Facebook group. I also want to mention that I visited Blackwater Apothecary on Small Business Saturday and came away with one of my new favorite drinking cups, made my the owner, as well as some smudging herbs. I not only enjoyed what the store had to offer but also appreciated that they were hosting other makers with their own tables, selling their own wares. That kind of community spirit is what we love at Shop Local!

Dr. Amy Heger is the owner of The Night Watch Childcare Center in Salisbury, MD and a HUGE fan of the spell bar at the Blackwater Apothecary.

This business baby of Nicole Herr is a fresh addition to downtown Salisbury. If you were ever a fan of The Craft in the 90s, this is the store for you! From the loose teas to spell kits, there is something delightful every time I go in there. She has recently moved to a larger space and hosts witchfully delightful events and even has tarot card readers! While she has practical supplies (teas, candles…), she has things for those looking to try something new with their spiritual journey. The owner Nicole is very much a witchy-librarian. All faiths/practices are welcome and she has something for everyone. Every time I go in there, there is a very diverse group of customers. She always has a line of customers-- no matter the day/time I go in there.

Seeing the “woman in black” with her signature dark hair and fair skin add to the aesthetic of this eclectic shop! She also collaborates with other local artisans and authors to offer an amazing selection of products. For a fun gift like a candle or jewelry to supplies for faith-based practices, the Blackwater Apothecary is your spot.

Even if her hours don’t fit your schedule, she offers monthly subscription boxes. Each month has a new theme. She includes all kinds of interesting goodies like candles or seasonal ritual/spell kits. It’s such a fun surprise to get my subscription box from Blackwater Apothecary. She also hosts a VIP Facebook group for her VIP customers. Many of us shopped from her when she was exclusively at 3rd Friday events and selling incense and candles online. It is amazing to see how she has expanded in such a short time. Her willingness to collaborate with other business owners adds to the welcoming vibe of the Blackwater Apothecary!

I 2nd Blackwater Apothecary. The owner is very nice and super helpful. Her husband makes the candles she sells. The fragrances are unique and smell really good, not to mention reasonably priced. ~Tammy Bradway

Blackwater Apothecary in downtown Salisbury. New shop, started small last year and is growing bigger, holding community events, vendor events, classes and more. Super friendly, they have all your needs fir the new year. Gemstones, crystals, skipjack candles, herbs, lots and lots of unique finds. Check them out. Would be an amazing and different story. Nicole Bishop Herr is the owner. You won't be disappointed. ~Karen Hornberger

This business is a Shop Local Delmarvalous Delight and I highly recommend it!
