Baywater Trading Co: A Delmarvalous Delight

 Baywater Trading Co is a new indoor farmer’s market located in Hebron, MD. On their Facebook page, they describe themselves: “Baywater Trading Co. offers farm fresh produce and baked goods using locally sourced family recipes and produce from local farmers. Shop with peace of mind, knowing where your food comes from and that you are supporting your farming neighbors."

I love stopping in Baywater for a variety of reasons. First because I like being able to support local and Baywater gives me the opportunity to do that while buying things that are supporting other local businesses, such as farmers and makers. 

But also, their produce is always terrific. I’ve been in a handful of times now and picked up produce every time I’m in there. The quality and taste has been excellent. I’ve also enjoyed taking advantage of some of their “last chance” produce at a reduced price—even at last chance it’s fantastic. I appreciate that they carry things like bok choy, which can be difficult to find, as well as different types of leafy greens or micro greens, carrots, beets, peppers, onions and more. 

In addition to the produce, the baked good always catch my attention. Not just the totally delicious doughnuts, which I’ve totally bought, but also the bread items, a few of which I’ve purchased like the French baguette (yum!) While I did have one disappointing experience with a bakery item, I have had far, far more incredible experiences and I will keep buying and trying! 

Last time I was at Baywater, I picked up a dried flower arrangement, which are still sitting on my mantle, looking gorgeous. And since they carry other local products, I took the opportunity to browse those. The young women at the counter gushed about the Bathing Bee products (I reviewed Bathing Bee and Rust & Honey here on the site a few weeks ago) and specifically the shower steamers and how awesome they are. I agree! Other products to browse are fresh eggs, small batch sauces, honey, CBD products and more! And though I haven't tried it, they also have an ice cream counter!

One of the things I love that Baywater offers is called a “recipe bag” where they offer a bag of produce at a bundle price and give you the recipe to go along with it. I put some pictures of the Leek & Potato soup recipe in the carousel, but this is just one example of the recipe bag. 

Baywater is currently advertising a few things that may be of interest as we move into spring: interactive gardening classes, pre-order of local plants for your garden, and their spring CSA, opening for sign up in March!

I really appreciate their active Facebook page, where they keep customers up to date on special doughnuts (I like doughnuts!), contests, fresh flower deliveries, recipes and upcoming events. It’s definitely worth it to give their page a follow and keep up-to-date with them, especially as we move out of winter and into the more abundant growing seasons.

I look forward to seeing what Baywater Trading Co does as they continue to grow their business and offer us new products and opportunities. This is a welcome addition to our shop local community and I’m pleased they’re close enough to support them regularly.
