Hey, You are that guy

I always used to hear from people about all of the wonderful businesses people found on Shop Local Delmarva and still do quite often. But something I keep hearing more and more is Hey, you are that guy who started that Shop Local thing. It is interesting since I haven't been taking near as many photos and posting near as much as I had in the past to chat and listen to the feedback.

So a funny story I was sitting at the Eye Doc getting my eyes checked out. I had my contacts out and honestly I can't make out much of anything without them. While I was sitting there I had been talking to the nice lady who was helping me about all kinds of food and fishing just like I always do. When I was talking about some of the spicy foods I really like she was like no, nope not me. I can't do anything like that. As another lady walked down the hall she said tell him I won't eat anything like that. Well just then she said no she won't eat that but you won't eat pineapple pizza! I got a good laugh and said I can't see a thing right now but we chatted about the group and she said how great it was for the community and so many local places. And how important it was during that time and still is. Now the other lady was confused. She wasn't aware of the group and wasn't on FB. But she quickly learned all about it from her co-worker.

Not even a day later I am at a meeting. When I hear almost the same thing. So again I discussed the group and heard how helpful it is to find places and businesses. And I agreed and shared a few stories and frustrations that have come with the group.

Then one of the coolest things happened the other weekend. I was in my undercover clothes. We were loading up a bunch of plants and things to plant around the house. I got talking with a customer who started out with David you may not know that we have our insurance with you but... I wasn't sure where it was going. I let her know that I was aware and she continued to let me know about a recent experience she had with my teams at the office. She said she couldn't remember who she spoke to or who emailed her but she wanted me to know about the experience she had and how thankful she was. Any business owners would be really happy to get this type of compliment. I assured her that I would look into this and let the people that worked on it how appreciative she was. I also let her know how much I appreciated her stopping me to let me know this. And that so often I take calls when there is a problem or a complaint.

This is what our group was really started for to share positive experiences that people have all around our community and to help promote our local businesses. And even though I have my days where I feel like tossing my hands in the air and being done with it all I am really proud of what Shop Local Delmarva has done for so many and stands for.
