Anonymous Posting

Anonymous Posting in the group is kind of a thing of the past! Well sort of? Facebook just made a change in groups to allow anyone who wants to post in any group that allows it to post anonymously. The way it used to be one of the moderators or I would have to approve each of these types of post. Actually before any of this I would get quite a few messages from people and so would Angie of people asking if we could post for them. Which we did quite often.

Now if I am being honest I really didn't like this anonymous posting FB was allowing anyway and kind of wanted to shut it down before. But after having a chat with Angie James she brought up some good points awhile back as to why it might make sense to allow people to post this way. Of course we would know who it was and approve or decline those posts. So we left it on and allowed it and approved them or declined them based on what we thought and that was going pretty well.

Just leave it to good ole FB to go and screw something else up again. They decided to allow anyone to post anything they want anonymously to groups that allow it without the moderators or admins being able to approve it beforehand. I looked in the settings to see if this was something we could use the Admin assist tool to try to help with and couldn't find a way to put these on pre approval at all. Well this was a change I was defiantly not a fan of.  I decided I would see how it went and think about it awhile before I made a change to the group and just shut it off completely. Went out fishing Friday and although it was an uneventful day as far as the fish were concerned I woke up Saturday morning in a pretty good mood. I saw a couple of post that were anonymous and they wouldn't of been ones I would have approved if I had any choice. But I was still going to think some more on it and not just instinctively do what I wanted to do.

After a great weekend I came in the office Monday morning to a mountain of papers on my desk from being out Friday. And when I finished up I checked in on the group. What do I know another anonymous post that I really wouldn't have approved. So I sent Angie a message and said what do you think. She agreed she hated the change FB made too. That was all I needed to hear. Gone! It is shut down. If you want something posted to the group anonymously just shoot one of us a message and we can post it on your behalf but I don't want to have this feature turned on anylonger.

Happy Monday!

David

Shop Local Delmarva

And don't forget our Supporters, Partners, and Sponsors.

In addition to helping us put on our Shop Local Delmarva Barn B Q you may notice certain businesses are highlighted and standout not only in the directory but we highlight them on our Facebook Page as well as our group. This ever growing list of businesses help us promote  a lot of great things in our community. Many of our blogs which you can find right here are focused on our community and our local businesses. And they are always helping with our community givebacks just like our Shop Local Delmarva Scholarship.

Many of these businesses are helping us promote other local businesses. Which really is what Delmarva is all about. I am asked quite often how a business can be part of Shop Local Delmarva. If you are part of our group you are part of Shop Local Delmarva. If you like the group and like the concept of a digital type of media that we share blogs, videos, highlights and features and want to be part of it we would love to have your support. You can find out more information here. All of our supporters, partners, and sponsors are on the rotating banners on most of our blogs just like this one.

If any of our supporters, partners, or sponsors have upcoming events we encourage them to let us know so we can help them promote them as well.

The whole idea of Shop Local Delmarva is all about our local community supporting local businesses, and our local businesses supporting our local community. It goes round and round.
